In Uxbridge Ontario, there are two historical sites located very close, just a few minutes drve from one to another.
More than a Mausoleum the Memorial stands as a testament to the triumphs of Thomas foster a local boy who went to the city and found his fortune. He was a MP & Mayor of Toronto and left several legacies. It is an unique artistic treasure hidden in the rural Uxbridge Country Side. The memorial is inspired by the Taj Mahal mixed with Byzantine Architecture, with solid bronze doors, stain glass windows hand painted and fired. The floors are rich coloured terrazzo and marble mosaics wrought in symbolic designs fashioned by some of the finest artisans of the time (the Memorial website)

Anne of the Green Gables is the best well-known book from Canada written by L.M. Montgomery about a little girl's story in PEI. Many tourists to PEI will visit at least one of the houses where L.M. Montgomery lived to find a scene described in her book. If you like to see more about L.M. Montgomery. Uxbridge is another option to learn her writer's career and her life with children.
L.M. Montgomery married to a pastor and moved to north Uxbridge. She attended the church and usually sat at the back corner. The church is now a historical site that has an exhibition of her works and letters.
A guided tour is offered to visit the church and her house just a few minutes walk from the church. Where the layout was largely resored based on the large amount of photos L.M. Montgomery took.
